Helen Cole

Helen commenced her nursing career in 1985 and has since then enjoyed a variety of professional experiences in general nursing, midwifery, mental health nursing, and primary health care. Helen has spent the past 10 years working in vocational education – involved in teaching the Diploma of Nursing. Helen is passionate about teaching the next generation of nurses and loves witnessing the ‘aha’ moments for her students.

Her teaching philosophy focuses on providing an experiential problem-based learning environment through which students can develop critical thinking skills. Helen consistently encourages her students to be reflective practitioners.

Working as part of a collegial team is paramount to optimal health outcomes for patients and Helen believes this can be paralleled in the teaching environment to achieve excellent student outcomes. It is this team approach that drew Helen to join the Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club and she looks forward to learning from other members through their shared experiences and working together to support the health communities across the world.
