Jane Davies

Jane is from Aotearoa and always knew she was going to be a nurse. Jane trained in 1989, working mainly in medical nursing. She has worked in NZ, the Middle East and now Australia is home, currently loving returning to her island home - Thursday Island at the very tippy top of Queensland in the Torres Strait.

Jane has a passion for indigenous health and has recently been appointed as the Director of Nursing at Thursday Island Hospital. In her downtime, Jane enjoys walks, reading and yoga, a recent uptake of outrigging, and when time and borders allow travel to far-flung places

Jane - “I joined rotary as I was looking for a community-based club, and happened to be around when many of the leadership team came up to celebrate one of the Rotarian's 60th here on Thursday Island. The fellowship and professional support that the club offers interested me, and the many projects that give back to not only Nursing and Midwifery but other social needs projects. The club also offers opportunities to further develop leadership skills”.
