Here is the link for the fund raiser that is being organised by Sue (thank you) and as you know some of our members have volunteered their time to be involved over the 2 days. For those of you who live in Qld especially please forward this link to colleagues and invite them to come along.

We also now have a page on our website dedicated to the fund raiser and I invite all of you to invite colleagues to share the link and reason for the conference.

Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club - GNMRC e-Cook Book - a project all members of the club can participate in

Our writing team Maria, Shehla, Dolly and Wendy are delighted to say we are now ready to do the next step in our GNMRC e-cook book. Please open the attachment below to find out more information and also to see the information that the writing time invite you to present to us in order to create the e-book. We envisage our readers with be Rotarians, nursing & midwifery colleagues and more general public who like cooking and stories.

Gold Coast Benji
Some members met Gold Coast Benji at one of our meetings in 2021.
Benji has raised millions of dollars for various charities over a number of years.

Benji and his handler Karin Kolenko have volunteered to assist us. Rotarian Jules will liaise with Karin re same                        https://goldcoastbenji.com.au/

We need you, our members, to make this the best Rotary Club possible.

Two other fundraising possibilities.  We would appreciate if someone can volunteer to coordinate the following:

Gold Coin Donation day
The role would require a member to contact universities / hospitals / professional bodies about our Turkish Student Nurse Fundraiser and the club and invite them to have a Gold Coin Awareness Day to assist our colleagues in Turkey.

Please contact Jules at jules.aitken2@bigpond.com or Louise at woundtherapies@gmail.com if you wish to volunteer.

Let us all work together to make this the best possible Rotary Club we can.

She will discuss her ideas with the leadership team and then present to members for input and approval.

Have you registered with MY Rotary yet ?

A big thank you to all members who have registered with My Rotary between September and now.

My Rotary really is a rich resource of ideas about RI and different roles within clubs.

Projects Portfolio Leads

Project Portfolio leads are Louise Webber & Jules Aitken.  Louise and Jules are open to suggestions from members.  At last meeting, Louise and Jules presented a number of suggestions raised by members of our club to support student nurses in Turkey.  At present, the decoupage and pot painting day at Maggie's house has been planned and a seminar arranged by fellow member, Sue has been planned for July 21st and 22nd.  A  number of our members will present and all profits will go to this cause.

Club Projects
We are a very busy Club - below is a snapshot of the projects that we are currently involved in.

The Three C's Cafe
Hello Rotarians
As you are aware the Three C’s Cafe Check in Connect Chat is one of our major projects. The Three C’s Cafe offers a virtual space for colleagues to come into for a chat about professional matters of interest to them / and a space in which to be supported. The cafe is open to colleagues where ever they are in the world. The cafe is open to members of this club and non members.

Wendy commenced an 8 week training course for new facilitators on March 1st.

Disaster Fund
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.

We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 3 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.

A big thank you to the work of Sue, Jason and Louise to make this happen. Shelterbox is very active in Turkey and Syria due to the recent devastating earthquakes.  Wendy, charter president, donated $2 000 to shelterbox this February after the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Rotary Solar Case
The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.

Rotary Solar Case Pilot - Phillipines - first case has arrived safely.

The Solar Case Pilot Study has now been sent to Mialem, Jimenez, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. Please see attached photo and video for the documentation, together with the map that pinpoint the location of Mialem.

Rotary of Ozamiz North through the effort of PP Princess Suico, reached Mialem and met with the Barangay (Suburb) Captain and Councils together with the Public Midwife and provided information session on how to operate the Solar Case and given the items together with it.

The Barangay Captain, Councils, Midwives, together with their constituents are very thankful and appreciative of this great help in their community, especially, they have no electricity and the recent damages they sustained from the last Storms during December.

Social Media & Website
We would like to thank Sue for the work she has done in developing our Public Relations and social media portfolio.

New Rotarian & member to our club Zoe (from Mexico) is taking up the portfolio from Sue and we look forward to seeing the ways in which she can continue to raise our club profile out there in the world.
