I would like to take this opportunity to thank all GNMRC Rotarians for the support I received during my tenure as a President. The year flew so rapidly. The handover from President Wendy to me was seamless making it very easy for me to cope. I think we ploughed back in the profession by many ways. It was a great honor to meet with nurse/ midwives from Papa New Guinea during the International Confederation of Midwives(ICM) congress, who told me how the Solar case project is assisting them. Of note was the recipe sharing project which will be compiled into a recipe book. I look forward to that.
Lastly I urge all of you to donate money and continue to spread the word for the Turkish project to assist our new students and future nurse midwives Professionals. I want to thank Past President Wendy for her mentorship skills, commitment, compassion and dedication to this organization. You helped me to steer the ship in the right direction. Continue the good work. The support from the management team is amazing. President Sally we are behind you. Wishing you all the best. Let us hold hands to take GNMRC to the highest level in the spirit of ‘ Ubuntu”
Forward GNMRC Forward!

Nursing Essentials Conference on the 20th & 21st July
Here is the link for the fund raiser that is being organised by Sue (thank you) and as you know some of our members have volunteered their time to be involved over the 2 days. For those of you who live in Qld especially please forward this link to colleagues and invite them to come along.
We also now have a page on our website dedicated to the fund raiser and I invite all of you to invite colleagues to share the link and reason for the conference.

Some members met Gold Coast Benji at one of our meetings in 2021.
Benji has raised millions of dollars for various charities over a number of years.
Benji and his handler Karin Kolenko have volunteered to assist us.
Charter President Wendy shakes hands with Gold Coast Benji who is going to assist our club fund raise for our Turkish Student Nurse Fund Raiser and will join members presenting at the conference in Sunshine Coast next month
Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club - GNMRC e-Cook Book - a project all members of the club can participate in
Our writing team Maria, Shehla, Dolly and Wendy are delighted to say we are now ready to do the next step in our GNMRC e-cook book. Please open the attachment below to find out more information and also to see the information that the writing time invite you to present to us in order to create the e-book. We envisage our readers will be Rotarians, nursing & midwifery colleagues and more general public who like cooking and stories.
We need you, our members, to make this the best Rotary Club possible.
We would appreciate if someone can volunteer to coordinate the following:
Gold Coin Donation day
The role would require a member to contact universities / hospitals / professional bodies about our Turkish Student Nurse Fundraiser and the club and invite them to have a Gold Coin Awareness Day to assist our colleagues in Turkey.
Let us all work together to make this the best possible Rotary Club we can.
Australian College of Nursing - Nursing Forum Adelaide 9th- 11th August
A great opportunity to meet and network with thousands of colleagues for a three day conference
Past President Wendy has an extra registration for the event (valued at $1,135) and invites members of club to consider taking up the opportunity to join her. The main ask is that whichever member comes along you will be available to talk up the club at the conference at every opportunity you have. Flight and accommodation cost is not included - just a free registration. Contact Wendy at wendy@davaar.com.au if you would like the registration. Wendy will be giving a presentation on the Three Cs Cafe at the conference. https://www.acn.edu.au/events/national-nursing-forum

Project Portfolio leads are Louise Webber & Jules Aitken. Louise and Jules are open to suggestions from members. Louise and Jules have recently emailed members to contact their local rotary clubs to tell them about our Fundraiser for the Turkish nurses. Please use the template provided and the recommendations for how to approach your local rotary club.

Club Projects
We are a very busy Club - below is a snapshot of the projects that we are currently involved in.
Hello Rotarians As you are aware the Three C’s Cafe Check in Connect Chat is one of our major projects. The Three C’s Cafe offers a virtual space for colleagues to come into for a chat about professional matters of interest to them / and a space in which to be supported. The cafe is open to colleagues where ever they are in the world. The cafe is open to members of this club and non members.
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.
We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 3 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.
A big thank you to the work of Sue, Jason and Louise to make this happen. Shelterbox is very active in Turkey and Syria due to the recent devastating earthquakes.
The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.
If you want to know the date of any of the Club Meetings or Events then go to the events page on the website.
Meeting agendas and minutes are sent out by the club Secretary attached to an email a few days before the meeting takes place. If you are not receiving those emails then contact the Club Secretary on secretary.gnmrotaryclub@gamail.com
