President's Update
Greetings GNMRC Members
Hello to you all from Pres. Rtn Uday Kumar Paul

Dear Fellow Rotarians, Friends, and Esteemed Members of the Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club,

October is Rotary’s month for one of its most vital Areas of Focus: Community Economic Development.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our entire team for your unwavering support, dedication, and active participation. Together, we achieved remarkable milestones in September.

Reflecting on Our September Successes

Thanks to the collective effort of our members, September was a month of deep learning and inspiration:

  • Members’ Meet: We were enriched by Rtn. Adedotun Amori of the Rotary Club of Abuja Imperial, Nigeria (District 9127), who spoke on the Healthbridge delivery model, a primary healthcare (PHC) service.
  • Global Eyes Project: We were inspired by Dr. Anshu Chandra, Director of the Global Eyes Project, who shared the project’s impactful initiatives in Haiti.

Looking Ahead

Building on this momentum, and guided by October’s theme of Community Economic Development, our team is expanding its outreach. Later this month, we plan to award the William Bill Peacock Scholarship to support deserving nursing students.

Thank you all for your continued commitment to our shared mission. Together, we continue to Create Lasting Impact.

Warm regards,

Uday Kumar Paul
President, 2026–27
Global Nurses and Midwives Rotary Club, Australia

Real change begins when we invest in people, empower local communities, and create opportunities for everyone to thrive.

At the Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club (GNMRC), we recognise that healthier communities are built not only through quality healthcare, but also through economic empowerment, education, innovation, and access to opportunities.

A heartfelt thank you to Kgomotso Mathope, Midwifery Lecturer at North-West University, South Africa, for an inspiring first Education Meet. Her insights on online mentorship and continuous professional development highlighted the power of innovation in strengthening midwifery practice and improving maternal and newborn outcomes.

Leadership Par Excellence! Congratulations to Professor Mavis Mulaudzi, our Past President and Paul Harris Fellow, whose exemplary leadership, dedication to nursing excellence, and commitment to service continue to inspire. A true embodiment of Rotary’s Service Above Self!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Coffee Catch-Up today at Cafe Waroona. It was fantastic connecting over great conversations and warm coffee.
Shoutout to Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club and Neami National for helping bring our community together.

GNMRC is proud to congratulate our Immediate Past President, Rudson Barcoma, on his monumental achievement as a co-author of a newly published policy brief for the Australian National University – Philippines Institute!

NURSES & MIDWIVES, YOUR WORK DESERVES TO BE HEARD!

Every community has a nurse making a difference. Someone leading a project, conducting research, mentoring others, improving patient care, or finding innovative ways to solve healthcare challenges.

At the Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club (GNMRC), we believe that great work should never go unnoticed. Your ideas could inspire a colleague across the world, your project could spark change in another community, and your experience could help shape the future of healthcare.

Why join us?

  • Share your research, projects and innovations.
  • Connect with nurses and midwives around the world.
  • Learn, collaborate and grow professionally.
  • Showcase your impact and inspire others to take action.

You don't need to have a big project or a groundbreaking discovery to join us. If you're passionate about making a difference, there's a place for you here!

Have a story to tell? A project to share? An idea that could change lives? WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

Every great journey leaves a legacy, and the Bill Peacock Scholarship Grant is proof that investing in nurses and midwives means investing in healthier communities and a brighter future!

As we celebrate Helvita Pinto, our 2025 scholarship recipient, we honour the journey, the achievement, and the doors that education can open. Her story reminds us that when we invest in emerging healthcare leaders, we empower them to create lasting change.

Now, the journey continues!

Meet our 2026 Bill Peacock Scholarship Grant countries:

  • Tanzania
  • Malawi
  • Australia

If you have not yet done the Youth Protection training, now is an opportunity to do so. District 9620 have updated links and content, so jump on and familiarise yourself with the content and complete the online training.
Disaster Fund
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.

We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 3 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.

A big thank you to the work of Sue and Jason to make this happen.
Rotary Solar Case
The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.
