Have you registered with MY Rotary yet ?
If you have, that's great, you have seen the multiple resources you can access.
On the 7th September 2022 we had 39.47% of our members who have registered with MY Rotary. Let us aim to reach 100% by the end of October this year.
We still have one position up for grabs on the leadership team and that is Portfolio Lead for Projects. Sue has been in the position since charter and would now like to step down and allow another member to take it up. The role of Portfolio Lead for Projects responsible for checking in with members who lead individual projects and then provides a comprehensive projects update to the leadership team and to members at the meeting held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The role provides a great opportunity for a member to become more familiar with all the club projects that we currently have. If you are interested in the role please contact Sue for more information. Th leadership team looks forward to working with and supporting a member in the Portfolio Lead for Projects role.
Club Social Events - Cruise Conference
This conference provides Rotarians with the opportunity to join together in fellowship to share information about successful projects and to learn from each other. It is by sharing information that our communities benefit from our knowledge, innovation, creativity, resourcefulness, and enthusiasm. Through Rotary we make the world a better place
The Global Nurses & Midwives Rotary Club invite you to join us as we explore this fabulous part of the world.
Optional Tours will be available at a number of ports where we will discover the sites but also join with fellow Rotarians from a local Club to gain an understanding of what they are doing and share our own experiences. It will be fabulous!
We are a very busy Club - below is a snapshot of the projects that we are currently involved in.
End Polio Now
What a great day members of our club and friends had at our Paint for Polio Day hosted by member Maggie at her house.
Fun, laughter and sharing information about RI and End Polio Now. With a few weeks of the month left we hope to raise more money and awareness for this project.
Big thank you also to member Kate J for donating drinks for the day.
As a club we will continue to raise awareness about End Polio Now until the end of October. World Polio Day is the 24th October.
The Three C's Cafe
The Three C's Cafe Check-in, Connect, and Chat is a virtual cafe space facilitated by members of the GNMRC who have been trained to offer a supportive environment for Nurses and Midwives to share mutual experiences, concerns, and feelings in a confidential, safe space.
The cafe sessions are available via a zoom link which you will be given once you register for a session. Each cafe session will last one hour.
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.
We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 3 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.
Treasurer Jeff is pleased to report that we have been able to donate our first $1,000.00 to Shelterbox for this Rotary Year. Again a big thank you to the work of Sue, Jason and Louise to make this happen. Shelterbox is very active in Pakistan currently due to the major flooding that has caused devastation recently.
Wendy McIntosh and Cecelia Flom head up this project.
The Florence Nightingale International Foundation (FNIF), the charitable arm of ICN, launched the Girl Child Education Fund (GCEF) in 2005 with the mission of supporting access to education for the orphaned daughters of nurses in developing countries.
The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.
If you are already a member of LinkedIn we would love you to connect with us...let us continue to grow awareness of our club, our projects and the Rotary international through our professional connections
As always, Rudson welcomes your input and comments and can be contacted on
The Theme for this month is Economic and Community Development
Nearly 1.4 billion employed people live on less than $1.25 a day. Our members promote economic and community development and reduce poverty in underserved communities through training, well-paying jobs, and access to financial management institutions. Projects range from providing people with equipment to vocational training. Our members work to strengthen local entrepreneurs and community leaders, particularly women, in impoverished communities.
