Rotary International, District and Club Changeovers

On the first of July every year RI has President Changeovers at every level.

As you are aware PE Mavis will take over the role of Club President from me on the 1st July and then I will formally handover to her at our club changeover on the 12th July.

Club Changeovers are an important milestone for all clubs, a chance to review the year that has been to prepare for the year ahead. PE Mavis will be sharing her vision for the club moving forward at our meeting on the 14th June. We will also shortly be conducting via email our yearly club health check which I invite you all to complete. We did integrate your feedback into our strategic plan for this year.

On Wednesday 6th July 1800hrs AEST we will hold a strategic planning meeting for the next three years and everyone is invited to come along.

Projects

We are a very busy Club - below is a snapshot of the projects that we are currently involved in.
The Three C's Cafe

The Three C's Cafe Check-in, Connect, and Chat is a virtual cafe space facilitated by members of the GNMRC who have been trained to offer a supportive environment for Nurses and Midwives to share mutual experiences, concerns, and feelings in a confidential, safe space.

The cafe sessions are available via a zoom link which you will be given once you register for a session. Each cafe session will last one hour.

Next check-ins are:
Monday 13th June 1730-1830hrs AEST Hosts Sue & Louise
Wednesday 29th June 1800 - 1900 hrs AEST. Hosts Wendy & Nicole.
Disaster Fund
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.

We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 5 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.

ICN Girl Child Education Fund

Wendy McIntosh and Cecelia Flom head up this project.

The Florence Nightingale International Foundation (FNIF), the charitable arm of ICN, launched the Girl Child Education Fund (GCEF) in 2005 with the mission of supporting access to education for the orphaned daughters of nurses in developing countries.

Rotary Solar Case

The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.
TED Talk
Rudson Al Tongco Barcoma

Everything is, was, and will be you.
Congratulations Rotarian and GNMRC member Rudson for presenting at a TED talk.
Rudson's TED Talk will be available in a couple of week's time.
Social Media & Website
Rudson is continually updating our club social media of Facebook and Instagram and Deborah Jackson updates our Twitter. As you feel OK to do so follow us and share postings that you think would be benef, icial for colleagues in your organisations and collegial groups to view. Let us all work together to promote our fabulous Rotary Club.
As always, Rudson welcomes your input and comments and can be contacted on socialweb.gnmrotaryclub@gmail.com
The Theme for this Month is Fellowships
Rotary Fellowships are international groups that share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends around the world, explore a hobby or profession, and enhance your Rotary experience.
Imagine Rotary, the theme for 2022-2023
The theme graphic was designed by an Australian indigenous artist to link with the Melbourne convention in 2023. Circle - connections to one another.

Education Session 28 June 2022

Adenlyl is a registered nurse with about 18 years of practice experience. He
immigrated to Australia in 2007 and worked in various clinical roles in Australia until 2015 when he joined Central Queensland University. Currently he teaches undergraduate nursing students at the Mackay city campus, Queensland.

Education Session 26 July 2022

Joy Matthews is currently teaching at Central Queensland University and based in Bundaberg, QLD, Joy also works at a small rural multi-purpose hospital and health centre in rural Queensland. Before settling into teaching joy worked in the parts of Australia that most people never get to see, from the Tanami Desert to the Torres Strait Islands, and across the top end from the Indian Ocean Territory to Arnhem Land. Joy describes herself as a “MacGyver nurse”, where working in unusual locations with limited resources means you sometimes have to be a jack of all trades, creatively working with what you have, not what you wish you had!
