I encourage you to join us for our Education meeting this Tuesday evening when Dr Meab Mdimi will present. I will be unable to attend as I will be on holiday.
We continue as a club to create change through Service Above Self. We celebrate this month the delivery of our final Rotary Birthing Solar Case and also handed over PPE boxes to the Marilog District.
A warm reminder that our Changeover meeting is the 9th June - your colleagues and friends are welcome to join us.
Enjoy your week

Rain or shine, the brew must go on! Cyclonic weather in March kept March numbers low, but smaller numbers only meant more room for deep dives, big laughs and meaningful conversations. Thank you to Neami National who is the sponsor for this event.
A brighter future for Safe Motherhood in Marilog
GNMRC in partnership with the Rotary Club of East Davao has successfully turned over the final Rotary Birthing Solar Case to Marilog District Hospital, warmly welcomed by Dr Eve Buenaventura. This project is testament to what Rotary can achieve when compassion meets innovation.
These solar cases provide reliable, off-grid lighting during births, emergencies and night-time procedures. They support nurses and midwives with portable lighting which ensures continuity of care, even in during power shortages. The safety of mothers and newborns is enhanced by strengthening the hospital's capacity to respond to emergencies with confidence.
Liberia to the World!
Our very own Rotarian Cecelia Flomo, Registrar of the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery, joined a high level Liberian delegation in Cotonou in January for a pivotal West African Health Organization (WAHO) meeting. This meeting focused on shaping the future of healthcare across West Africa.
If you have not yet done the Youth Protection training, now is an opportunity to do so. District 9620 have updated links and content, so jump on and familiarise yourself with the content and complete the online training.
Shelter Box is an exceptional organisation that our Club has partnered with. They provide emergency relief to people around the world who have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict.
We have pledged to fund five Shelter Boxes each year for the next 3 years. The cost is $1000 per Shelter Box and we raise funds for this through raffles and events held at Education Conferences conducted by the Nurses for Nurses Network and Education at Sea.
A big thank you to the work of Sue and Jason to make this happen.
The Rotary Solar Case has been developed, first and foremost, to provide light in remote health centres, aiding health workers where the availability of electricity is problematic at the best of times. The ability to provide portable lights for village birthing assistants is a major priority in areas where women often give birth in village huts or village health centres where the light from kerosene lanterns or mobile phones is otherwise the best available alternative.
